corrosion on steel head studs
I'm waiting on the final parts to start the reassembly of my 78SC. I had made up my mind to go steel on the lower headstuds (3 broken dilavars) and leave the uppers alone but now that I examine the upper steel studs I'm concerned about the surface corrosion. Are the steel studs sensitive to surface corrosion like the Dilavar's are and therefore weekened?
Do I need to replace these uppers? ![]() |

There have been very few cases of steal studs ever breaking, but I wouldn’t take the chance, especially considering the cost of new ones.

New ones come painted. Probably a smart idea to replace them, although I too have never seen a broken steel stud...
