Engine installation.. HELP wont align in back mounts

Finally came the day to get my motor installed. I was able to get the gearbox mounted and have the car on a lift and have been hoisting up the motor with a transmision jack. we were able to get the input shaft through the body and aligned fine.

Getting the transmission cross member mounts installed was a chore, but we were able to get them secure.

Upon moving to the rear mounts, we've noticed they are both off ~10-15mm.

Ive got the left or the right installed, but not both.

Wondering if something could be not oriented or installed correctly?

Next step will be to loosen the transmission mounts and see if I can more play.

Here are some pics.

The cross member is flexible, just push or pull and drop in the bolt.

I had a new custom cross bar to install on the factory suspension parts.
I had to loosen all the motor and trans mounts because there is no flex available in the custom cross bar.
What I had to do was install head washers between the motor console and cross bar to make up for the lack of flex in cross ar.

Yeah, seems a bit farther than I should flex it. My friend who was helping said he's never seen it so tough to fit.

We seem to get one side, but not both. Will loosen the front transmission bolts and try again.

I wonder if I may have to do something similar. Thanks for the tip.

WPrater,

Unless the engine bracket is well distorted, installing the engine makes a lot easier and convenient if you have flexibility for adjustment. Loosen the 4 bolts at the engine console and also the 2 bolts for the motor mount/s. Install the 2 large engine bolts. Do not forget to support the engine well from the bottom. With all these mounting bolts loosen, you have plenty of movement to install and align everything.

The transmission mount bolts are also done similarly. Keep us posted.

Things are straight. I dont want to loosen the engine console bracket, since its nicely straight and aligned (when I leveled it during install). or so it should be.

Even tho there is quite a bit of space, I will loosen the front and flex the support bar to mount.

Will report back!

Looks like my support bar is slightly tweaked (rotated on the left side!)

Going to order a new one and get that installed asap.
