How did I break my Cam Shafts
-disassembled 2.7 yesterday
-broke the end of the cam shaft off -yes used the crow foot and socket from Pelican -done 3-4 engines before with same tools, never had issues -used (2) 2 foot long 1/2" drive ratchets |
I doubt you damaged them.
Its more likely that they were stressed upon installation during the tightening process or perhaps they were dropped. They are more fragile than people think. |
Better now than on the track.
Show us a picture. |
-will get a picture tomorrow
-I'm glad it happened also now, better than in my running rebuilt engine |
Any knowledge of it having been reground in the past?

Is that why Porsche changed to the newer style bolt in the '80s?
|
If anything, this is a good reminder to torque the cam sprocket correctly instead of zapping it with an airgun as I have heard some people do (to remove and install).

thanks to everyone for response, figured it was not something I did but something the PO did
|
Happened to me one time also..
