Anyone ever try to pre-fill a C2 Turbo Oil Filter?

I'm referring to the engine-mounted oil filter console. I tried filling the filter before mounting it, but no luck. Poured about 1-2 ounces before it was up to the oil filter gasket area.
Trying to minimize the time it takes the pump to fill the filter and then pressurize the oil circuit. Rebuilt engine.

Why???
It's a dry sump, there is no lag in oil return feed as the oil comes straight out of the tank.
The oil is filtered in the scavenge circuit before it dumps into the tank. It's plumbed that way inside the tank.
Wasted effort.

Wasted effort, no. The oil filter console is situated between the pump and the oil galleys. Filling the oil filter will reduce the time it takes for the engine to get fed oil when cranking over for the first time. There is no oil engine oil thermostat so the filter console is full flow 100% of the time unless the pressure relief spring in the filter takes over.

Correct that it's not wasted effort. The filter that goes where the oil cooler went on earlier models is in the pressure circuit, so the time that the oil pump spends filling the filter on startup, is time the engine bearings are not yet getting oil. Probably a few seconds ...

I haven't tried this on a C2 filter, but I've done it on others, and noticed the same thing you did. I found that if you pour oil into the filter and let it sit a minute, it goes down. It must have to soak into the paper element or something. You can do a few rounds of this if you're patient.
