Piston Circlip Groove and Wrist Pin Bore Cleanup
I have a set of JE Pistons that have some ever so slight burrs on the edges of the circlip grooves caused by prior circlip removal.
The burrs cause some wrist pins to only install from right to left and some from left to right only, catching at the edge of the groove. Is there a safe way to "clean up" these burrs without altering the wrist pin bore? Everything I can think of from a Dremel with a little buffing wheel to a jeweler's file or a little piece of rolled up fine grit sandpaper seems risky. Thanks in advance.

Polishing tool...........
Jose,
Attached are pictures of the home-made polishing tool I used to remove the burrs and heavy scratches on the cam towers' rocker shaft bores with very good results. Cut an appropriate size of scouring pad to produce good contact against the wall of the bore. A hand drill at slow speed coupled with forward and backward movements will polish or remove the scratches or burrs. Tony |

I'd be very careful about using any abrasive in the wrist pin bore.
If the burr you are talking about is on the edge of the circlip grove, I would use the end of a knife, or tool bit if you have one, to work them out.

Following up to close this issue. I was able to use a tiny jewelers file with a half round profile to file the inner and outer circlip groove edges lightly where I saw and felt raised edges. I was able to use the tip of the file and the half round surface to file both edges at once, extremely lightly and avoiding the bore on either side of the groove. Was then able to clean out the grooves with a q-tip in alcohol and the pin will now slide in from either side with no issues.
Thanks everyone for the input!
