New conrods for hot street engine?
I am considering getting new conrods for my 2.7 litre hot street/trackday engine build (high comp pistons, 908-ish cams, 46 mm PMOs). Aiming for 250 BHP+ and the revlimit is going to be approx. 8000 rpm. Is it worthwhile replacing the stock conrods with a set of Carrillo 4340s for this application given that bearings and bolts are replaced, or is this an upgrade that falls into the nice to have category?
Thanks! |

For that rev range I would get a set of better rods, given that by the time you re size both ends, upgrade the bolts, magnaflux, shotpeen etc you are close to what a set of most race rods cost and know the age of the parts

You can find pauter rods pretty reasonably priced. Titanium rods time out after a couple hundred track hours.

I'll second the Pauter rod suggestion and add a concern about securing the flywheel at 8K with a 6-bolt crank.

Thanks everyone! Slightly confused about the Pauter vs. Carrillos though. I'm finding Carrillos at c. 1,200 USD whereas Pauters seem to be around 1,700 USD?
