Rotating a 964 Engine Backwards

Hoping for some guidance.

I just bought the Stomski Racing TDC tool. However, I see that is requires the engine to be rotated backwards to calculate TDC.

Is there an issue with rotating the 964 engine backwards?

Thanks!

Rotating a small amount backwards is not a problem. I am assuming your motor is on a stand? During a rebuild I don't see why you can't rotate the motor either way by hand.

No issues rotating a motor backwards by hand at all.

Thanks for the replies. I am doubtful that any damage could occur, Stomski does it in his videos with new engines. Perhaps there could be an issue with older engines as the chain tensioner would not be as strong as it once was.

I wanted to be sure there wasn't any issues with the 964 engine. Thanks again for the replies.
