1967 S Cam distributor recurving

Hi,
Following on from a previous post, I am having my Bosch distributor from a 2.4T 1973 recurved to work with 1967 S cams, matched with 90mm cylinders and 10.5:1 high comp pistons, 2.4 crank, ported cylinder heads and a Zenith carb with 34mm venturis, 145 main jets, 60 idle and 185 air jets.
I didn't mention in my earlier post that the S cams were from a 1967. Will the distributor part number 0 231 169 008 work ok with these cams and is it it still the case that the recurve should be set at 28 to 30 degrees BTDC@6000 with no vacuum attached.
Thanks in advance.
Rob.

It' s my understanding that all the factory S cams up to '73 are the same.

With single plugs and that CR I would not go over 28 degrees maximum advance. I assume you are eliminating the vacuum advance from the distributor. Even so, you will be on the raged edge using pump gas with single plugs.

yes, you are right

Thanks.
So should I be looking to permanently remove the vacuum advance?
I forgot to say, I'm in the UK where there's plenty of hi Octane pump gas available.

Not sure why you would want or need a vacuum advance.

Vacuum advance takes advantage of lean mixtures at part throttle (burn is slower), thus more ignition advance to take advantage; also increases fuel mileage.
At WOT = lower vacuum retards timing (thus no advance) from the vacuum mechanism.

If working properly, does not affect total mechanical (centrifugal) ignition advance.
