Distributor Question - '82 SC
I have a Bosch distributor that a P/O of my car had installed at some point (he had the car backdated to pre 80.5 specs). The unit is:
Bosch 0.237.303.003 PGFD 6, Porsche P/N 930.602.021.00. From what I researched this unit was on the SC from around March of 1978 until February of 1979. This unit has no vacuum advance. My question is what are the advantages, real or perceived, over the stock unit for the 1982? Should I keep it or return to stock? The fuel system will no longer be CIS, going to EFI.

There was a factory euro without vacuum pod.
The first two years of SC used an advance pod. The lambda system of the last three years deemed the need of more control in the idle for burn time With after market injection there shouldn’t be concern with which ignition you use, just advance. Bruce |

Oh yes, it will need a distributor.
I am going to use the TBitz system with a twist. The entire CIS intake will be gone. I am using a 964 intake plenum with custom adapters to mate it to the heads as well as mount the injectors. To begin with this will mount the stock SC throttle body, with the option of moving to the 964 TB at some point. The rest of the plan is to use a junk 964 AFM to join the intake to a 964 air cleaner assembly. Not so it looks sort of stock, but because I dont like K&N’s!

The early SC distributors have more advance than the later ones. You should keep the early one for your setup.
