VarioRam value
A friend of mine has a complete 1997 VarioRam engine with 41k miles on it.
Can you guys give me an idea of what that engine is worth? |
The varioram piece doesn't really add much to the value, still, I'd say 15-20K for the package. It's higher because it's one of the newest air cooled motors you can buy, and there are those out there that like varioram and hydraulic lifters.

Apologies. Im calling it a VarioRam because I just don't know any better.
Its a 1997 993 engine with 41k miles. Includes the engine and everything that goes with it. Harness, ECU, exhaust, etc. No transmission though. Still $15-20k? |

But yeah, that motor is worth 15-20K. Probably more in the middle of those two figures. |
Perfect thanks.

I paid $16,000 for mine with 39k miles 2 years ago.

I have no experience on these engines with variable intake length, but in my old 4.2l S6 engine making the variable intake work correctly greatly helped the area under the curve in the mid-range (buttdyno tested). |
^ If Vram was the ****, then you wouldn't see things like ITBs, fuel injection with Carrera 3.2 intakes, and all kinds of other variations.
As an example, the Vram 3.6 makes ~290 hp, while the same motor with Singer bits in 3.8 makes 375+. Lots of low hanging fruit in the intake..... |
