Question Price $ on a 4 Cly 2180 Porsche Engine?

This guy wants to sell me a Porsche 2180 carb. engine. He says it was rebuilt and it looks very nice. He says it has been run only a few times. He had it built to put on a sand racer but decided to go with another engine. The engine has sit inside for some time but...Lets assume I get the engine toren down and everything checks out and it runs good. What kind of price tag would a 2180 (he says) new rebuilt have on it with normal parts? Thanks

Obviously you are taliking about a VW engine. I don't know if many took a typeI out to that size, but some probably have. More likely, it is a typeIV like in your 912E. A typical big typeIV is 2270. As for your question, as I have the typeIV, he might ask and will probably get $2000. I suggest you take this question over to the 914 BBS here or over to Shop Talk Forums. A lot more four banger buffs there.

That is a common VW type 1 (bug) size. 82mm stroke, 92mm bore.

Nothing Porsche about it.

You are on the WRONG forum!
