Smoking '75

Have had a '75 911S. Problem with intermittent smoking from the exhaust. Had the valves ,cams & injection worked on, and, for a while the motor ran as good as it ever had. Smoke started belching out of the exhaust. Parked it, restarted, and smoking occurred at idle. Did not over rev but believe it might be rings. Any ideas?

I would say a blue puff of smoke is normal on startup sometimes. Is it prolonged smoking and are you sure it's coming out of the exhaust and not valve covers leaking onto the heat exchangers?

Duane, valve covers are fine and dry. Smoke exits the exhaust. Thought it was rings but not sure.

Oil getting by will be the guides, the weak spot on the aircooled.

Bruce, tks. Speaking of the air-cooled, does it pay to add the front-mounted oil cooler?

Always, the dealers installed AC on many cars and oil reached 250F
By 77,factory installed air came with oil cooler and a console. I don’t know about earlier because in 75/76 air hung below the dash.
