Oil help/breather?

Hello - I have read and looked at all the flow diagrams - so please bear with me - car is a 72 body w/ a carbed 74 2.7 race motor. In the passenger rear wheel well, I have a system 1 oil filter and the flows to a therm, then to front oil cooler and back. My question is there are two outlets at the top of the wheel well - one is the crankcase breather return to the tank - can anyone tell me what purpose the top one usually serves - (labeled "what is this" on the picture below). Thanks (also hoping I have the flow right) (not sure why it is putting every picture upside down....)

I notice there is no vent to atmosphere in your diagram (or at least nothing labeled as such). You do need one of those. Often the crankcase vent goes to the tank, and then the tank has a vent to atmosphere. Is the unknown port in your diagram on an expansion tank of some kind? Perhaps a pic would help.

Scott, I'll take a pic in the am - there is a breather element on the flip side of the port (in engine bay) but I don't see anywhere that would connect to the tank - I'll post tomorrow.
