Someone suggested that I cross-post my question here. I didn't rebuild the engine but have a strange squealing noise after retorquing one head stud nut on #6 that also had a broken stud.
I won't post the whole question here, but here's a link to the post on the 911 forum: Strange sound after valve cover replacement. It this "cross-post" is improper, please let me know. Thanks,

A couple things to help diagnose...
Can you describe the squealing a bit? You might consider investing in an automotive stethascope to hone in on the area... I'm sure you've checked the belts... How loud it is? (Fan belt loud, ear splitting, difficult to hear over engine noise...) Is it rythmic or constant? Any other recent modifications?

Time for basics. Check the compression. IF ok check leakdown. THis will rule out any problem with broken head studs. Next remove the chain covers and look for the obvious. Oil pressure ok? But first just take a very close look at everything that might cause a squeek. belts pully, stuff dropped into places where it can rub on pullys or whatever.
