OK, the compression end of the new pipe is ok.
Turns out the connection to both sides of the existing hose are loose enough to spin easily by hand. Hmmm.....
Next question, since the existing hose had a pronounced "S" bend in it, is it possible to bend the new pipe (using a pipe bending tool) to minimize the hose bend?
