Cool about just half of them needing adjustment - that's the thing that is nice about using the backside () method; can easily measure the lash and avoid needlessly adjusting ones that don't need it (unlike using the Kirk tool, pointer tools, and the traditional method with the funky feeler blade holder).

As you are probably aware, the tightening of the exhaust valves that you noticed is typical - combustion pressure pounds them into the valve seats, and combined with the much higher heat of the exhaust 'v' intake valves, the stem/rocker gap tightens with use . . . kind of counter intuitive, as it is easy to assume that the stem gap would increase with use due to wear, butt that is not the case.
