Am I able to run it at idle with the intercooler connected and the pipe from the air cleaner disconnected???
Yes but it is tricky and probably more trouble than it is worth. The throttle position and the air meter plate deflection need to be synchronized. If you have an AFR meter you can crack the air metering plate then adjust the throttle plate until your original idle AFR returns.
If you insist on watching the turbine cold side outlet it would be easier to connect the air meter to the throttle or drill a hole in your up-pipe and stick in a remote camera lead with light.
