I started my car saturday to go out for a ride. As the engine was warming up the oil pressure gauge was reading 20psi at idle and revved up to 50. usually goes to 65. I revved it a couple times then gauge went past 100 and down to zero. I recently replaced the sending unit because the gauge reading was irractical. I took the low pressure warning switch out and put a mechanical gauge in and it read 40 at idle and revved to 75. From that I think the gauge has kicked the bucket. It's only 43 years old. I made an adapter to go in the oil temp sending unit today, do you think this is a good place for an accurate reading or was the idiot light hole ok ?
