When I got to it , it was partially apart so I could not drive it . The boss said he drove it and the clutch would slip in high gear under hard load .

I pulled the motor/trans , split the trans from the motor , pulled the clutch and it shows almost no wear .
It is not even close to the rivets . The pressure plate fingers are even , the flywheel and pressure plate show age but no signs of slippage (hot spots ect.)

I read that this trans does a power split between between the front diff and the rear cv shafts .

Does this trans have a viscous coupler or any other system that would allow it to sound like it is slipping ?

There were 2 version of 964
rear wheel drive uses g50.xx
all wheel drive uses g64.xx
the transmissions used in each are very different

if you had an all wheel drive trans in front of you the answers to your questions would be immediately would be immediately obvious

Look at the nose, this is a g50.xx, no output shaft for the front axle, the shoft near the bottom is the shifter which is the same in both g50 & g64

this is a g64.xx w/ output shaft for the front axle

Behind the cover of a g64, output differential which is computer controlled to vary the torque split, and shift shaft
