head/cyl stud spacing changed over the years
Stud spacing
964/993 90mm
3.0-3.2-3.3 86mm
2.0-2.7 83mm

An aluminum block will be more stable in the long term, though many mg 2.7s are out there.

If doing a 2.7 mg I'd want a 7R casting to start w/
