An attempt to explain exactly what it is I'm doing in the garage all day . . .
It's The Fab Shop's Fault

So you thought the pans were going in today, eh? No such luck. I swear that I'm not searching for excuses, but they're coming regardless. I went to pick up the left longitudinal yesterday and the base was fine; however, the sill plate flange was bent 180 degrees in the wrong direction so they told me they'd make me another. And yet another reason why I love this shop? They called me on my way home and told me the new piece was ready (they're only a few miles from the house so it's no big deal to make another trip while I'm out). Assuming that they piece is ready, and correct, I will be installing them next week.
I currently have the front half sitting on a cart just below the 'flanges' and must say I'm a bit curious to know exactly how this is all going to go down. There is enough metal to mate the pans to the car, but when I think about this as a dual-plane problem it will be quite a feat if they come out near the stock position . . . normal floorpan installations are usually just a matter of getting them to fit. This installation of mine required me to:
1) Correctly figure proper mounting location
2) Correctly form the surrounding pieces
3) Add flanges
4) Find correct installation height
Since every piece that the pans mate to has been replaced (wow. when I think about how far this thing has come in the last two years it blows my mind) the pan replacement height is an issue in addition to actual placement. It's no matter, as the only measurement that truly matters is the door fitment, and that's going to be the main focus during the install.
