My 1st 914 full of questions.

Posted 08-30-2009 at 11:43 AM by Tom new to 914'

Hey all, I am new to the wonderful world of the 914, I was recently given a 76" from an old bud who I hung with in High School. It has been sitting under a cover in his mom's garage since 97. I am currently trying to drop the trans and have a few Questions. 1- what size torque head do I need to remove the rear Axel's.2- How do I remove the shifter linkage from the trans,3- and what is the plastic housing that covers the linkage into the trans called and were do I find one in good condition?
I am the 3rd owner and have always wanted a 914. Just always loved the body style and had a blast riding in this one in high school. I want to tear the whole drive train down and put it back together so I have a dependable Sunday cruiser. All suggestions are welcome.

Thanks Tom
