My car is a 2000 323i w/a 57k miles. I live in Chicago. Every morning im experiencing cold start problem, my car would start with no problem but after 15-20 secs you can feel it would shake a little and check engine would illuminate. Before it would happen in a temperature 20 degrees below, but this morning its listed 50 degrees outside to my surprised it happened again. Usually if this happen. What i would do, i will turn the ignition off and turn it on again. The car would start fine with no problem and no check engine illumination.
I brought my car to the dealership last 3 wks. ago because of this problem. They test the car on the computer to check and run check engine codes. They said, theres is a mis fire on cylinder 1 and 4, they check the coils and plugs and told me that there in nominal condtion. They swap coil 1 to 3 and 4 to 6 and according to them check engine (mis fire) codes clear off. They also check my battery and acoording to them its still okay. For a while the car starts gud in a cold winter morning. But, after two weeks im back to my cold start problem again. Today its 50 degrees outside i start the car and boom after 15-20 seconds the car would shake a little and check engine would illuminate and same as usuall, if i turn off the ignition and start the car again the car would start fine with no shaking and no check engine. Anyone, experiencing the same problem? Please help....I don't have a code reader. I already change my spark plugs with NGK's, fuel filter, air filter and cleaned my injectors with red line fuel injectors. Im planning to do some upgrades ( 17" wheels n tires, konis udjustable, H&R sport springs, ECIS cone intake, shark injector and supersprint exchaust) but im stuck until all issues has been resolve. orics orics |

what do you think about the ignition coil problem? I heard that they kind of problematic especially with the E46 models. I know sometimes there going bad or fail very soon. Some change them with only 7k miles.
Which one is the original equipment the BREMIS or the BOSCH? I heard the BREMIS are bad and BOSCH are ok? Any inputs???? orics |

there are two style bremi's. the first style, bosch doesn't make a replacement for. the later, bosch does make a replacement for. when available go with bosch. also, replace all 6 of them, and the tower between the coil and plug too.
