As Darth Vader would say...

...my conversion to the dark side is complete. I've sold the last of my Porsches and now own two BMWs - a black/black 325i and a black/black Z4 2.5i. I'm on the road in Iowa on the drive home from picking up the Z4 - they have free WiFi at their rest stops! Here are some pics from the road:

Fantastic!

The Z4 is a great auto-cross car and very fun to drive. And surprisingly the E46 325 is nearly as fast as the 330.

I just got back from a Porche DE weekend and had a great time mixing it up with some of the fastest Porsche's on the track in my M3. It seems that many people go back and forth between Porsche and BMW ownership.

Congrats

Congrats

Thanks. I've had friends tease me about going to BMWs, and a lot of people seem to see some sort of rivalry between the two marques. Like you, I've always seen a lot of crossover by Porsche and BMW people, and several people in Roundel's letters section mention owning both brands.

The rivalry always seems to bee good-natured. :)

I notice many Porsche owners have BMW's as their daily driver. It may have something to do with air conditioning. LOL

I just sold my 911 and bought an M roadster to sit next to my Wife's 3 series cab.....I just wish the pelican BMW boards were as active as the Porsche ones.......

Nice looking Z4......Congrats....

The most active BMW boards are bimmerforums and the like, but they have alot of chat and the members seem to be young.

I like the way the Pelican board stays on topic but it would be nice to have a few more experts here.

There does seem to be a lot of "cheesy"ness on bimmerforums that I can only attribute to youth....

I may not be an expert, but I will certainly do my best to contribute...The Pelican Porsche forum certainly provided me with wealth of knowledge and I feel I owe something back to these boards.....

And I agree, Pelican seems to stay on topic & I like the layout of this site much better.....

They're German, RWD, and pretty athletic cars. I can't bring myself to spend money on anything that doesn't match that description or building spittng, foul tempered, nasty early American Iron.

I dig solid, heavy, overengineered, well built cars - like what Germany USED to make. I feel confident the quality will return though.

Yeah, all the kids and the fuss over image, attention and bling.

Pelican is where it's at, it's the center of the aircooled 911 Porsche online community - hopefully they'll get the BMW crowd too.

They make nice family cars.

Plecostomus? I agree...BMW is a great car for an old guy with responsibilities. ;)
