323i headlight replacement

Hello,

I'm new here and as a BMW owner. I have a 2001 323i and the passenger side low-beam headlight is out. I'm getting conflicting info.
1. that the whole headlight assembly has to be removed and replaced
2. you can just replace the bulb.
Can someone please walk me through this? I've been stopped 3 times now with just warnings; I'm afraid my luck will run out!

just the bulb. open the hood and look at the wire behind the assy. twist counter clockwise.

Thanks for the info, that's what I was hoping for.

Does anyone no if it's possible to buy just the one xenon bulb? Everywhere I look it's pairs only.
