Check Control - Trunk Open Indicator
 

Hello. I have a 1999 323i. On my Check Control module in the dash, the warning light indicating that the trunk is open stays on, despite the trunk being firmly closed. Any suggestions on what the problem or repair may be?

I would start with the switch that detects the trunk is closed. The switch is integrated into the trunk latch. The pertinent wires are GR/BR and WS/BR. I think WS/BR is grounded to turn on the trunk lights and GR/BR indicates the trunk is open.

Does the light stay on in the trunk after it is closed? I think you can see if the trunk light is on through the center tail light, if it is dark enough.
