new camshaft position sensor, low idle

Hello,
I have a 2001 325i, w/ AT and I just installed a brand new genuine BMW camshaft position sensor (exhaust side). The installation was easy, but now I noticed my engine idling a lot lower speed with trans. in the drive position (~500-600 rpm). With the old sensor, my engine speed was about 700-800 rpm in the same trans. position. Does anyone have any idea what causes this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Cycle the A/C on and off a few times letting the Idle adjust each time. If it's till low sometimes disconnecting the Battery for about 5 mins will power cycles the computer. I know it sounds silly, but it works in about 25% of the time.

jdumapit, Im hoping that u have resolved the idling problem coz mine is acting d same.
1) To start with the prob with mine is it happens during cold start (seldom) - i.e. in the morning. Though d office is 5 minutes away, d whole journey feels rough when this occurs. During good morning starts, d car performs perfectly.
2) Well, to tell u more - whenever this specific Mr. Idling appears again, I face the prob 4 hours later when Im off for lunch or/and when Im off work late evening.
3) The same prob happens whenever I back d car & quickly shove the tranny to 'D' & hit the gas paddle while the car is moving backwards due to the momentum.
4) The same had happen to the car, twice, after the straight three hour hard-drives on the highway (estimated avg. speed at 180 km/h and 5500-5800 rpm) and the weather condition was normal. The climate here in Malaysia is hot & humid at around 33-34 degrees Celsius. As I was reaching the place where I was heading to and the engine out of sudden halted while I was cruising at about 60-80 km/h. Good thing is that the car seemed okay after restart.

So, as been advised by my mechanic (aka my tuner since I have the Unichip piggyback installed) and did changed the o2 sensor, MAF sensor, camshaft & crankshaft sensors, fuel pump, and fuel filter all at the same time. The dismantled o2 sensor was covered with thick-hard carbon and one of the tip-end of the spark plug was badly damaged as if it has been sharpened unevenly (plug number 3). I was told that it has been caused by engine misfiring. This misfiring I suspect came from the same idling problem. The car seems superb after the parts' replacement. Its been 3 weeks now since I changed those parts, and 'was' glad (for awhile) that I have fixed the idling matter! Well I was wrong. I diagnosed the car to found that the camshaft sensor is faulty - again. Strange eh?
Let me know what you think.
