BMW Roundel loosing my mind over this

Ok well a few months ago I bought a 2003 325i and have noticed that the HID projectors are really dim. I can barely see when I drive at night. I recently replaced the bulbs, but no fix. I don't think its the ballasts or the igniter because both bulbs are dim, and its really rare for them to go out, let alone go out at the same time. Any thoughts? I've been thinking of replacing the light switch in hope that it might do something. I know its kind out of left field, but get this......the car has foglights that are wired, but the headlight switch has no buttons to turn them on. Yea i know, odd. So I'm kind of hoping that might do it. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Do they appear to be factory, or might this be an afternarket installation?

My limited understanding of HIDs is that if they fire at all, they should be giving off full intensity. That leads to the suspicion that the bulb is not in the correct location in the reflector. That could happen of the parts you have are not parts made to work together as a single kit.

I would start by dismantling one completely and checking parts numbers from the bulb through the projector, to make sure they are all made to work together.

RealOEM should have the part numbers from the original BMW assembly.

Second issue - are they aimed properly? My wife's 330 has self-leveling projectors. Hers have not failed, but the ones on 5-series are famous for stripping out their nylon gears and failing - particularly in icy climates. New nylon gears may be available on line. OdometerGears.com has them for the 5 series.
