climate control
during the winter the climate controls on my 2003 325i do not seem to be working properly. At 59 degrees it too cold and when I raise the temp to 60 it gets to hot. The temperature contols do not seem to contol tem when in auto.
the only way i can control temp is by using the thumb wheel control on the center air vents. |

The thermistor that tells the climate control what the cabin temperature is is located on the circuit board inside the climate control. There is a little grated opening on the front of the climate control and a fan on the back to pull the cabin air through so it can check the temperature. If you look carefully, you will probably find that the inlet or outlet are full of lint.
Be careful about blowing it out with compressed air. My daughter was amused by the whirring sound that the fan made when she blew compressed air through it and she spun the fan up to several times normal operating speed and trashed the fan bearing. If cleaning the air passage does not help, I would next try replacing the thermistor. Should be cheap and available from Radio Shack or Omega. |
