closing door
I have a 1998 328i. The little bar that I grab to close the door has become loose. Probably from pulling to hard on it. Is there a way of reinforcing it from the inside of the door panel?

Your in Porsche land.
The BMW support group is around the corner and down the hall.

Sorry to have bothered
But I thought the real Porsche was the '79 911 SC.

You can certainly reinforce it from the inside, but without seeing it, I would expect that there are problems with the screws that hold it on. You may have to replace their anchors or put in larger screws.
On a '98, you have an air bag in the door, correct? Disconnect the battery several minutes before touching that air bag and of course you won't reinforce the door in a way that air bag deployment would be affected. You don't want your reinforcement to end up stabbed between your ribs. For tips on door panel removal: e36_Speaker |

thanks
Hadn't thought about the air bag. Good call. I've posted in several places and you are the first "real" reply I've gotten.
Thanx |
