prob with high pressure line on power steering
awhile back all the oil leaked out of my high pressure line at the flaring. when i took it off i noticed that there wasn't an o ring between the flare and the block where it is tightened down to with the nut that slides over the flare. i found a o ring that fit and used it in front of the flared end. it held for several months then a few days ago it all leaked out at the o ring. i recently saw a diagram that identifies the high pressure line as #3 and there looks to be a metal crush washer (maybe, not sure its a metal crush washer) identified as #4. does anyone know if using a o ring was the wrong thing to use or is there a metal crush washer that should have been used instead?

Crush washer
You need the metal crush washers, and get BMW OE ones for the best fit and result (all crush washers are not created equal). Make sure you get the washers perfectly centered within the lip of the banjo fitting, and use the exact/correct torque. Under torque and it will leak, over torque and you will easily strip out the threads and buy yourself a new pump or steering rack. Ask me how I know...
