e46 wiper failure and control module
 

I have a 2001 320d (e46) and about year and a half ago wiper motor appeared to fail. Bought New relay, didn't solve the problem. Replaced entire wiper motor unit and all worked fine. A few days ago wipers failed to come on for a while, then came on, then would go off for a few hours, then back on, and so on.

Took to local garage who initially said it was working fine, then siad their was a fault. They asked if I had the old unit I had replaced.I did, and they then switched motor from old one on tonew (second hand) one and said it was now working. Paid for this, and just a few days later the wipers stopped again. Now garage say that the problem with the control unit which is not sending power to wipers. They say I can get it reprogrammed for about $700.00, or have a new one for about $2,500!

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
