Need a DIY on repairing the rain gutter trim

My son's 2005 325i sedan has had both rear quarter rain gutter trim pieces fall off. We have the curved black trim pieces and they are in good shape. One still has the 3 white clips glued to it and I got the other side of the clip that snaps into the body panel from the dealer but does anyone know the procedure for replacing the trim on the car without braking it. There are 2 clips on the long straight part and one down lower near the end of the curved section. The trim clips seem to just slide over the clips that are attached to the body panel. Do you slip on the straight part and then pull it back to engage the curved section or what?
Now the other side trim is missing 2 of its 3 clips. I can re glue the one that remains but should it go where it came off which is at the bottom of the curved section or should I move it to one of the other locations? Has anyone tried double sided tape or heavy duty velcro to reattach these trim pieces? What did you use and did it work?

Thx for any DIYs or other suggestions.
