Blank LCD in instrument cluster?
Hi, can anyone here offer advice on fixing the blank LCD in my instrument cluster?
The car is a 2001 330i, all in good condition and everything works, until last week. It sat for a week over the holidays, in freezing weather. When I drove the car again, it started fine (battery didn't seem low) and the LCD was lit up, but a few miles down the road I noticed the LCD was completely blank. It does not show the odometer or any of the OBC information, but the LCD does glow (is the backlight separate from the LCD?) when the ignition is on. Checked all the fuses, didn't find anything, although the clock on my radio now shows --l-- after pulling one of the fuses. I tried disconnecting the pos. battery terminal and charging the battery, it was disconnected for about 2 hours, but no change. Everything else in the car works fine, all the other instrument cluster functions are operational. Did my LCD just go bad, or did I lose the connection between the OBC and instrument cluster? The still-functioning backlight on the LCD confuses me, unless it's a separate function. Thanks for any help you guys can offer. |
