New aftermarket CV axle popped out
hello... spent hours drilling out my steering knuckle, and removing passenger front axle, the circlip came out bent at the top of the OEM axle, i put in the new axle which was aftermarket and it went in flush, drove 2 miles, RPMS went crazy high in 4th, speedo bounced and we went no where, i managed to pull fuse 50A for FWD train, and drove it back to my buddys garage to park it for the night... any ideas? dont tell me circlip... if so who has OEM circlip near nj pa?

What are the details/year of what E46 you have? Did you check the DME for any fault codes? Check all modules.

I'd think the circlip is your issue as when it's installed and seated properly the clip will expand to help hold it in place. I'm not sure what axle you used, did it come with a new circlip? I'd always suggest using an Genuine clip as aftermarket axles/clips can cause issues. Did you plug in and read what fault codes are in the system?
New Genuine here: 2001 BMW 325xi Base Sedan - Axles, Bearings & Differential - Page 1. Also, just a note on axles. If you're going to purchase axles that are not Genuine, I'd recommend the OEM supplier axle by GKN here: 2001 BMW 325xi Base Sedan - Axles, Bearings & Differential - Page 1. Individuals have great luck with them as all OEM parts are used. |
