Post Getting my first old school BMW

Hey guys,

It's awesome to be on this forum with you all. A friend said he used it 6 months back and you guys where really helpful with his Porsche, Iv'e not got a Porsche thought... I am a BMW lover and always have been At the moment i have a 2010 BMW M3 and it has done me well for 6 years now since i drove her out of the showroom. Anyway now i have a little more time on my hands and i have been thinking about getting a 1999 BMW M3 E46 and having it as a track car for a lads weekend out here and there. After looking on the internet at random sites for hours on end, when it comes to these older cars i don't know what i should be looking out for when going to view them. I understand that the M3 will need work doing either way being the age it is and what i want to do with it, but to get one in as best condition for best price as possible would be a bonus. There is another one what kind of price range should i be looking at for a pretty good condition M3 E46?? Looking forward to speaking with you all and learning as much as possible.

Welcome to the Pelican community! The E46 will be a great track car. You could search for ones that are already track prepped if you'll be using it for the track only. Can contact the BMW club in your area or find some local clubs on FB/Forums and see if anything is for sale. As far as pricing, that depends on your location as prices vary by region. So check out truecar.com, craigs list, cars.com, etc. and see what they're going for. You can post up some prospects here as well, as you find them, for additional advice on them.

Yes this will just be for track days. I might look into buying a prepped BMW track car but part of it was for me to spend a little time building her up for the track. Then there is a little learning along the way etc. Finding a local BMW club did not even get to mind so i will let google be finding that out in a minute!! i will find a few motors and pop them up on here to see what you all think.

Thanks for the reply
