E46 ECU Programming ?

I own a 99 e46 323i Sedan, wich needs a ECU.

I bought one but the Car would not start, just crank.

Do i need the ECU programmed by the Dealer ?

Thanks !

Yes, the ews (anti-theft) system needs to be synchronised to "accept" your new ecu.
