2003 325XI cooling problems
Hello everyone
My first time posting on this site. So thanks in advance to everyone who helps the newbee.. I have a 325 that was just involved in an accident. The body shop fixed the car (Right front damage. Frame straightened.Ect.) On the drive home car spewed antifreeze and overheated, 20 minute drive. Had it towed back to the shop. They found a clip that had been damaged and replaced it. no more leak.......... started the car today and noticed that the coolant level light was on and the car was making a rough, bearing going out, sound in the engine compartment. The sound stopped as soon as the coolant light went off. 30 sec time lapsed. shut car off and added coolant, about a quart. Took back to said shop. They found no problems and said that they thought it was an airlock that had worked its way through the cooling system. There is no signs of a visible leak. The engine oil looks good and is not overfull. no noticable smell of antifreeze at tail pipe either. Is this a possible answer or is the shop jerking me around? Its going in for an inspection I next week. Maybe i shoould have them check cooking system too? Thanks Bill |

Their answer sounds like bs to me.
I suspect the car will make the noise again when you cold start the car. It may be the secondary air pump, a belt tensioner or the water pump. I am amazed that they gave you the car without test driving it themselves first. I would drive it and keep a very close eye on noises and gauges.
