Looking for performance upgrades...
I just got a 2003 328i and am looking for some performance mods within my budget (limited budget). What is the scoop on performance chips - any specifically recommended? What about exhaust?
I got the car with 94,000 on the clock and VERY clean. Very nice car. I started out with Signature Motoring performance intake which boosted HP by 12 horses. That kit for $194 with shipping and highly recommended. So I've got about $400 to spend (that was the budget)! LOL! |

2003 328i ? I think you have the year or model wrong.
The performance gain from mods to E46 era cars is slight. A chip for 91+oct gas might give a few hp. A 12hp gain from a intake is very optimistic. It is unlikely you gained anything and certainly not anything you will notice in real world driving. A cold air intake might give a couple of HP but only in specific driving situations. With an exhaust you could save some weight change the exhaust note and get about 5 hp. If you want a louder more throaty exhaust then that is the mod I would recommend but you cant get it for under $400.
