Headlamps switch recessed

I hit the headlamps swith my knee, and now is recessed and turning freely.
No control over the lights, but luckily is in the automatic position.

I remember in past Ibwas toldbthatbit is a normal feature, and just pulling it back will return it to working protruded position.... but is not working for me this time.

Would you please confirm or deny my memories ?

BMW E90 328i sedan 2009 automatic.

The rotating switch is fixed to the trim piece
YouTube can show you how but if you get a plastic trim tool itís pinned at the corners

The light switch assembly snaps into the trim from the back . Four tabs on the horizontal planes
