2010 328I codes and white smoke help needed
Hello all,
Over from the Porsche side of the forums and was troubleshooting my in-law's Beemer and ran into a few head scratchers. It died on a freeway on ramp, battery was dead due to a EATEN surp belt. So bad I had to pull the front pulley off the engine to get it to turn over. It was wrapped hard. Do not know how long they drove it with no belt but it never overheated - that I know of. The car is never driven very far. Got it replaced with belt and new pulley and the car ran fine - all good. Then the next day it started to run rough. It also out of the blue had a puff of smoke starting to come out the back when starting. Then at a stop sign gave it more than usual throttle and a huge cloud of white smoke dusted both lanes. Pulled codes and had a pile of miss fires, power management codes, sensor low voltage stuff and MAF codes. Reset but the 2D06 keeps coming back but not enough to trip the light. Cleaned the MAF changed oil and coolant and back out. Car runs great now but still puff at start and if you romp on it huge amounts of smoke. So - Crankcase seal because of belt failure may be the MAF but the car PASSED coolant pressure test. Any thoughts or tests to help keep me from tearing the heads of and replacing the gasket. If it needs to be done do I need special tools for the BMW? Any comments or snide remarks are welcomed. Cheers, Mike |
