Help with transfer case actuator
Hello, I recently bought a 328xi for my daughter. It has the cool light show going on the dash. I pulled these codes 5726 5463 54c6 2E9F. First thing I wanted to do was replace the actuator and see how many of the lights go off. So I pulled it out but before I went and ordered a new one I started the car and watched to see if it worked, sure enough the gear was turning. Will the gear still turn if the part is bad? Maybe its just not strong enough to turn the case anymore? It is a doorman looks like it was replaced in 17.

Hi hanly2,
It sounds like you're referring to the transfer case actuator. The gears are prone to breaking but it is also possible for the unit itself to go bad. Usually it will quit communicating with the vehicle when that happens though |

With the codes you listed the first thing you should do is change the transfer case fluid, code 54C6. This is very important. Then using a BMW scan tool run the change transfer case fluid replacement program along with the Transfer case adaptation program. This is the least expensive item you listed and one of the most import procedures to perform first.
