Hi, I've got a 2007 BMW 318i E90 which has got a leak from the auto transmission electronic plug at the rear of gearbox. My question is: do I have to replace the sump pan, filter and seal or can I just replace the electrosensor plug?
I don't plan on keeping the car for long, maybe another year or so but I just don't want the gearbox to burn out. On that note, is it absolutely necessary to drain and replace all the transmission oil or can I just top up as per required? It's done about 110k.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Regards

Richard

You will have to remove the trans oil pan and replace the Mechantronix sleeve (connector). I would repair it as soon as you can. Until you can repair the sleeve, top up the fluid to be sure you have the correct fluid level.
