Remote access problem

I hope someone can advise me. Yesterday my 2007 328i stopped responding to the key fobs. I now have to open the door with the "blade" key. Once inside, the central locking system works fine and the car starts and drives, it just wont respond to either key fob. I know the fobs are good. One fob is original and one is a more recent replacement, but both have been working fine and I've checked all the fuses related to the locking system. The locks and trunk release all work fine with the interior controls, just no response to the key fobs. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi there!

Have you possibly checked the battery in your key fob itself? Usually dealerships are able to test and see if the batteries are actually good or bad. Silly, I know, but it's most certainly easiest to start with the cheaper alternatives. It would be best to dive into things that are central to your locking mechanisms in the vehicle.

Thanks for responding, I'm pretty sure it's not the key fobs as they both stopped working at the same time and one is only a year old. I'm thinking it's the antenna or amplifier that receives the signal from the fob. Does anyone know if there is a fuse that protects the receiver circuitry, or where the antenna and amplifier are located on my car. I've been told it''s in the back window and that it's in the rear view mirror. Anyone know from experience?

Thank you
