Was receiving error code that replacement of throttle body needed. At that point, no light related to low oil had ever appeared. Shop called and said while replacing throttle body, tech noticed oil leak and a new filter gasket would be required and I okayed the work. On way home, after about 10 miles, low oil light came on (first time I'd seen it) and while parked in driveway last night an incredibly large amount of oil leaked from car. Had it towed back.
It seems obvious to me the dealer created the problem, but for my own education any ideas how and what I need to know about the possible relation of the two parts/problems to get it completely resolved, thanks! |

Hello! Welcome to the forum.
Was the oil leak in the same area of where the oil filter gasket was? If so, I'd assume it has to do with the work previously done. Figure 1 in our tech article for the gasket replacement shows you the area of where your oil filter housing is located: BMW E90 Oil Filter Housing Gasket Replacement | E91, E92, E93 | Pelican Parts DIY Maintenance Article Unless you inspected where the oil leak was coming from, it's hard to say exactly what was leaking, but since there were no leaks previously when you brought it in, I'd say it's safe to assume it may be related to the work done. |
