523i SE Omissions Reset

Can anyone help? UK based BMW owner.

Last year I had a new Catalytic converter fitted on my 97 BMW 523iSE Auto and it failed its MOT because the garage forgot to reset the omissions. Instead of taking the car back to the garage to be done I was advise what to do over the phone to reset it!!

To cut a long story short its just failed its MOT again and I do not want to pay BMW garage around £80 to reset it but I cant quite remember what to do to reset it myself and BMW wont tell me because they wnat me to brin it in to be done!!

To give you an idea of what I did last time:

You have to disconnect the battery, then reconnect it and hold all 4 of the electric windows buttons in the up position for I think 10 seconds but I cant remeber if you need to do this with the key turned to position 1, position 2 or even running?

This causes the computer to reset and it also resets the omissions levels.

Help on the exact sequence would be greatly appreciated

And YES! it does work for those that have never heard of it before!!

Thanks
