Brake lining code
 

Does anyone have any info on the 'Brake Lining' code? I have a 535i that keeps giving me this code. I have had the wheels off and the brakes look fine. Plenty of pad left front and rear. The sensor wires look fine too. It's really irritating!

I'm not sure how it works on the BMWs, but on the Porsche the sensors need to be replaced at the next brake job once the brake pad 'light' comes on. were the sensor replaced at the last brake job? it also might be a bad sensor.

I just purchased the car last year, so I don't know if these were replaced. I am now just waiting it out until they need to be replaced, but it sucks to see that message on the dash all the time!

true, true. I had a similar problem on my 535i where the light bulb code would always come on even though the bulbs all worked. I was told to do everything from re-doing the solder in the small c.b. to chanting at the moon for seven days and nights. it finally turned out to be that I simply was using the wrong grade bulbs. i.e. don't use the cheap brass ones :D

I am wondering now if that code needs to be reset. For instance, I had a fog light code that happened sometimes, I knew it was a loose connection, but it was winter and I didn't feel like fixing it. That code would reset itself if the electrical connection was made. Maybe the brake lining code doesn't. I do have a Snap-On scanner, I am going to try to clear all codes and see what happens.
