535 vs. 530

I have been looking around at various publications, and pricing some 5 series cars. Originally a 5 speed 535 was the car of choice, but I have noticed that the V8 530i is similarly priced. Is the 535 so good that it holds it's value better then the 530, or does the 530 have inherent problems that keep the value down?

the 530 with the V8 had many engine problems but most should have been fixed under warranty. However the engine is not nearly as durable as the 535 L6 and has less torque to boot. The 530 V8 is not popular and is fairly rare. If I were you I'd stick to the 535, they do hold their value better and there are tons of mods available.
