Okay, I'm not a complete mechanical idiot. I have changed the timing belt on my e30, adjusted the valves, diagnosed some quirky electrical problems on the car and fixed it, completely torn down and rebuilt the suspension on my 1979 911, and a variety of other projects, but
I CAN'T FIND THE BATTERY ON MY 1990 535i.... Owner's manual says it is underneath the rear seat cushion, but despite fifteen minutes of hunting around for the straps, I can't for the life of me find any way to pull the rear seats up. Maybe the car is more advanced than I thought, and it doesn't even have a battery.... Yes, please feel free to laugh... but don't leave me in the dark forever! fax

Thanks - I'll try that. I'd pretty much decided that this seat does not fold forward, and there definately is not a 1/3 - 2/3 split in the seat back, as the manuals describe.
