Trans Program Reset?
 

I have 92, 525i with 215,000 on it and it has a transmission fluid leak where the rear seal is.
I had the pan gaskets replaced and the trans filter about 6mos ago. The fluid was low so I added fluid and was on my way to a lube shop when the car reved and would not go into gear. Then the "Trans Program" appeared on my dash. I puttered to the shop and had them top off the trans fluid. It was about 1.5 qts low. So how do I reset the "Trans Program"?

Are is it to late to save the transmission? I tried disconnecting the battery for several hours.
